Yesterday was just like christmas here. My copy of 'William Eggleston: Democratic Camera Photographs and Video, 1958-2008' arrived after waiting 4 very long months.

It's the catalogue from the retrospective held at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York November 7, 2008-January 25, 2009 and what a book it is! If you want to be able to see a very good survey of him and his work it's a must buy book. It along with 'Lee Friedlander The Museum of Modern Art' should be the cornerstone of any decent photo book library.

Now for my short and naff homage to William E:

  1. Four months!!! I thought everything was instantaneous these days. I agree that it was worth the wait. Fortunately, I live in the New York area and I was able to visit the exhibition. It was excellent. After seeing Eggleston's view of the world, you never see things quite the same as before. As an aside, I thought that the inkjet prints of his newer work were the equal of the dye transfers of his earlier photographs. I highly recommend Friedlander's "Photographs of Frederick Law Olmstead Landscapes". I have had your blog bookmarked for some time and I enjoy your photographs: please keep at it.
