Off to Germany for an exhibition

I hope to be going to Cologne in Germany for Christian Patterson's exhibition and need to find an inexpensive hotel. Also maybe some good bars to go to. Any help appreciated. Not sure when I'll be going but sometime in May when I'm not working.
